Wayside Guest accommodation offers three large and luxurious ensuite rooms within the actual building, with the addition of an annexe bedroom with ensuite separate to the main accommodation.
All rooms have digital TV, computer broadband access, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer.
Evening meals are available throughout the week and are freshly prepared with local produce where possible.
Travel cot provided on request, please bring your own bedding. High chair also available.
Wayside has a comfortable lounge/dining area and bar, with slate flooring and underfloor heating, and for the winter months we have a wood burning stove in the lounge. The dining area seats twelve as does the bar area. We can cater for small private functions and meetings. Ideal for family get togethers.
The bar area has exposed stonework, an oak bar counter which has been reclaimed from an old schoolhouse. We have got plenty of Whisky's to try and buy so if you enjoy a good single malt this is the place to be, we also have a well stocked bar and reasonably priced bottles of wine.
Outside Wayside offers ample private parking space at the end of our large driveway, washing and drying facilities for boots and clothing and storage sheds for bikes, canoes etc. A wash pad is available to clean dirty bikes. The courtyard has a seating area where you can relax, have a drink, and take in the lovely fresh air, it is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine watching the sunset over Black Combe, and in Autumn the sun turns the hill into a beautiful shade of bronze, an ideal photo opportunity.
Dogs are welcome in the Annexe by prior arrangement and at an additional charge.
We are a totally non-smoking establishment.

Rooms are non-smoking but smoking is permitted in the courtyard and grounds. We have a large private car park with cctv in operation and a small caravan site adjacent to the hotel which can accommodate up to five caravans, camper vans and numerous tents. Electric hook ups and shower facilities are available. Weekly and short term rates are on offer for both the hotel accommodation and camp site.  Well behaved dogs are welcome on the caravan site at any time, and in the hotel by prior arrangement. A fully licensed bar and restaurant provide meals every evening from 6pm. where, twice a week, we hold our speciality of locally sourced and cooked fresh to order fabulous steaks accompanied by our renowned “real” chips. We are open all day on Sundays for traditional Sunday lunches, or, any other menu of your choice. During the winter months our real log fires will ensure a warm welcome and throughout the summer you can enjoy your favourite tipple al fresco. The Red Admiral is ideally situated for walkers, golfers, cyclists, fishing enthusiasts and anyone just wishing to explore this wonderful region of the Lake District and Cumbria. Packed lunches are available for all guests.
Englands deepest lake and highest mountain of Wastwater and Scafell Pike and the wild beauty and remoteness of the Ennerdale Valley are only a short drive away together with the old coastal Georgian towns of Whitehaven and Maryport, famous for their maritime history and museums.
Pete, the owner, can offer up to six complementary fishing permits during season, for a large stretch of the nearby River Ethen. Licences may also be purchased in Egremont for use on a day/weekly/seasonal basis. For golfers, Seascale and St Bees Golf Clubs are within five and ten minutes by car. Anyone wishing to hold a wedding, anniversary or Birthday party can hire our starlit marquee which is situated in its own secluded private gardens at the rear of the hotel. Functions for between 30 – 300 guests can be catered for with a variety of menus on offer fom hot/cold buffets, BBQ's to three/five course dinners.
